In the winter of 2016, Archbishop Tobin announced that St. Gabriel and St. Bridget Parishes will continue to operate as linked parishes. This means that our two parishes share a single pastor as well as we have been commissioned to work closely with one another in the sharing of programs and combining efforts when it comes to carrying out the mission of our two parishes. The Archbishop also asked that our two pastoral councils be suppressed in order to create one, new council that serves both parishes. This new council is made of equal representation from both parishes and includes ten elected members and 6 that are appointed by the pastor. There are also representatives from many of our other advisory and oversight committees (e.g. finance council, school commission). Staff members also comprise non-voting members of the council.
This committee is in essence tasked to advise the pastor in all matters concerning the pastoral mission of St. Bridget and St. Gabriel parishes. In other words, this committee helps guide our two parishes in the care of our two counties together. The pastoral council meets on the first Thursday of the oddly-numbered months. These are open meetings and anyone is welcome to observe our meetings. Should you have a concern/question that you would like the pastoral council to take into consideration, please submit it electronically or in hard copy to one of the members of the executive committee. It should be submitted no less than two weeks prior to our next pastoral council meeting.
